March

March

The month of March is still a great time to visit Puerto Escondido. There are plenty of things to see & do around Puerto Escondido. One of the bigger happenings each year is the bull fights at the towns bull fighting stadium that happens each March.

The weather is getting hotter in Puerto Escondido in March. The days are still mostly cloudless and the vegetation is now quite dry from the lack of rain in the last few months. It probably won't rain in March and if it does it would only be a brief passing shower.

There are a healthy amount of people in Puerto Escondido in March so it is a good time to learn to surf and the waves are good enough to learn on -- although some days might see the start of the big surf swells for the more experienced surfers.

The water temperature is mostly warm in March for snorkelling and swimming. Some days cooler currents will bring a cool change to the sea water temperature but mostly the water is warm to enjoy. Unless you live in a place that has warm ocean waters, you will think the sea waters of Puerto Escondido are hot! Through the whole month of March the waters should be clear so you should get good clarity when doing water activities like diving or snorkelling. The sea life is abundant so it will be common to see harmless fish swimming near you.

Some years Easter falls in the month of March. The influx of tourists during the week before Easter Sunday is incredible. If you plan to come during Easter you will need to be prepared to pay extra for things -- especially accommodation which will more than double. It can also be difficult to get flights and buses in and out as these will be fully of other travellers.

Accessing Money

While you're in Puerto Escondido you can easily access your funds. There are quite a few bank ATM's throughout the town and in the tourist areas. The major super market Super Che also has ATM's located near the checkouts in the corridor to the bathrooms. The banks have 24 hour ATM's and limit the withdrawals to $5000MXN per day per account.
