April

The month of April is a nice time to visit Puerto Escondido. As always there are plenty of things to do & see in and around Puerto Escondido. One of the big happenings most years is the Easter week celebrations that happen all around town each March.

Normally Easter falls in the month of April. The influx of tourists during the week before Easter Sunday is incredible. If you plan to come during Easter you will need to be prepared to pay extra for things -- especially accommodation which will more than double. It can also be difficult to get flights and buses in and out of Puerto Escondido as these will be fully of other travellers.

April is a hot month but not as hot as May before the annual rains begin. Thankfully for locals and tourists alike, the waters around Puerto Escondido are lovely, clean and clear for swimming and cooling off. The waters have much sea life in April so snorkelling is a recommended activity for all visitors.

Thanks to daylight saving (also called summer time) the afternoons will be longer making it feel like the sun gets up later in the mornings. Many people will enjoy hanging out on the beach in the cooler parts of the days and watching the many surfers ride the waves at Zicatela, La Punta, Marinero or Carrizalillo bay.
