The far southern end of Zicatela beach is known as la Punta (which means point in Spanish). Many local surfing families live at la punta and will often be found enjoying the beach and waves that are to be had.

The left-hand point break waves that break here are best suited to longboards. When the south swell is huge down at the Zicatela beachbreak is when this spot gets big and really good too.

Many beginners start their surfing lessons at this beach as there are plenty of safe waves in the corner to learn on. With the right surfing instructor you should be able standing up in your first practical surf lesson.

A few times a year surfing contests are held here and most weekends and before or after school you will see many local kids practising their surfing manoeuvres.

La punta has some very lovely beach huts where you can relax eating and drinking while watching the surfers catch plenty of fun waves. Close-by are is a good selection of accommodation options to suit all budgets.
